You are sitting in a chair.
A fly buzzes against the window. Its body hits the surface with a tink.
It tries again. The glass is filthy. You shake your head because you feel like it’s right by your ear, even though you can see it across the room. You should get up and let the fly out. You feel your muscles contract like you might stand up, but you stay where you are. The fly wriggles through a small crack in the frame.
The room is silent again. You breathe more easily. You have been clenching your fists and leaning forward, waiting for the fly to escape. It didn’t take it long. You realize that you may envy the fly.
